Tester: what to test

Part of Tester commands. The commands get you to a system; this page is
what to do once you are there, and what a working version looks like — so a report says more than
"it felt wrong".

Report it from where it happened: type /bug and the sentence. The server records your map,
cell, level and client build with it, so you never have to describe where you were — see
Reporting a bug. /idea is the same command for anything you would change.

A good report is three lines: what you typed, what happened, what you expected. That is the whole
job.

Combat

Weapon arts

A weapon art fires on its own while you swing, and only while you hold its weapon.

/job 15
/lvl 127
/reallot
/prof 510 12
/itemid 510239 0 0 0 0 0 a Glaive -- carries WideStrike

What working looks like. The arc points where you are swinging, every time — including diagonals,
which is where misaligned art shows up first. It fires at most once per swing, so a slow weapon
produces a slower art. Swap to a different weapon family mid-fight and the art stops immediately.

Worth trying: the same art at a low and a high rank (/skill <id> 0 vs 9). Damage should climb
roughly ×0.9 → ×1.8 and the drawn sweep should visibly grow — see
how skills scale.

Scatter

/job 45
/lvl 127
/reallot
/prof 500 12 bows need proficiency to equip
/itemid 500239 0 0 0 0 0 a bow
/itemid 1050001 0 0 0 0 0 ARROWS -- without these nothing happens at all

Scatter fires nothing without arrows in the quiver, and says nothing about it. That silence is
expected, not a bug — but if you have arrows and it still does nothing, that is one.

What working looks like. A fan of arrows toward where you clicked, up to 24 targets, nearest
first, damage on each.

The XP bar

Kill things and watch the third gauge fill. Green trash is worth a quarter of a white kill — see
multipliers. A full bar holds for 20 seconds, then empties on its own; dying
empties it too. While it is full your critical chance is at its highest, so a held bar should feel
better even before you spend it.

The Training Ground

The honest place to test all of the above: hundreds of stakes that never move, never fight back, and
cost you no durability, life or mana. Level 20+, via any Boxer or a TrainingGate scroll — see
The Training Ground.

Because a stake never moves, a skill that misses missed — there is no dodging or repositioning to
explain it away.

The client

Input assist bindings

The three assists — auto left-click, auto right-click and sticky CTRL — live on the QOL hotkey
menu and are rebindable. See Input Assist.

What working looks like. Each toggles independently, the binding survives a relog, and the assist
stops on its own under the conditions listed on that page rather than running forever. Sticky CTRL
should apply to your own clicks as well as assisted ones.

Effects window

Anything with a duration should appear in EFFECTS on the dock with a live countdown and its
current value. A running bonus that is not listed there is a bug — that window is meant to be the
complete picture. See Buffs and multipliers.

World systems

Achievements Play normally They fire when earned, not on relog
Bounty Dynasty Board Targets are reachable and pay
Rebirth /lvl to the gate Stats return correctly, points are handed back

The things most worth reporting

Ranked by how much they cost us to find on our own:

  1. Something renders in the wrong place — art, an effect, a dropped item, a name. Say where you
    were standing
and where you clicked; that pair is what makes it reproducible.
  2. Something happens silently. A command, cast or pickup that does nothing at all. Silence is the
single hardest class of bug to find from our side.
  3. A number that reads wrong — damage, a countdown, a multiplier, a stack size. Screenshot it.
  4. Anything that differs between what an item says and what it does. The description you read
comes from the client and the effect comes from the server; when those two disagree, only a player
    standing there can see it.

What testers cannot do

These change you. No spawning monsters on people, teleporting others, muting, jailing, banning or
editing server settings. A wipe fixes data; it does not un-ruin somebody else's evening.
