Ignore & the Profanity Filter
Sometimes people are mean on the internet. Two tools put your ears under your own control — both are
your settings, affecting only what you see; nobody else's game changes.
/ignore — stop hearing someone
/ignore <name> you no longer hear them -- at all
/unignore <name> undo it
/ignorelist who you're ignoring (and how many of your 50 slots are used)
Ignore works on the whole account, not just the one character: ignore JohnDoe and his alts are
silenced for you too, including characters he makes next week. Your list also follows your account
across all your own characters — set it once.
What an ignored player can no longer reach you with:
- Chat — their lines on the public, team, guild, friend and ghost channels simply don't arrive
for you. Everyone else still hears them normally. - Whispers — never delivered. The sender is told "NAME is not receiving your messages." (at
most once every few minutes, so they can't farm the reply). - Requests — trade windows, team invites and applies, duel challenges, marriage proposals and
friend requests from them never pop on your screen.
A GM always reaches you — moderation can't be ignored, on purpose.
/filter — mask profanity in your incoming chat
/filter on listed words in player chat arrive as **** for you
/filter off chat arrives as typed
/filter shows your current setting
The filter is per-character, off by default, and masks only what players type — quest text, NPCs
and system messages are curated content and pass through untouched.
Honesty about what it is: a curated word list with whole-word matching. It will not catch
creative spellings, and it is not meant to — chasing every variant is an arms race the list would
lose. For the person behind the words, use /ignore; for behaviour a GM should see, use
/report <name> <reason>.
